Here's a confession: the host rarely has fun at their own party. Too busy shaking, muddling, measuring and washing up to actually enjoy the room they worked so hard to fill.
We think that's backwards. The host should be having the best night of all.
So here's our completely biased, entirely effective guide to throwing a party without chaining yourself to the kitchen.
Stock the fridge, not the bar. Forget the spirits, the mixers, the fiddly garnishes and the bottle of something you'll use once and never again. Eight Hard Rock cocktails on ice covers every taste in the room — the mojito crowd, the espresso martini crowd, the "surprise me" crowd. Chill them ahead, and you're done.
Let people serve themselves. The magic of a can is there's no bar bottleneck and no bartender required. Lay them out, add ice and glasses, and your guests become their own mixologists. Less work for you, more fun for everyone.
Set the scene, then step away. Good lighting, good music, and a few nice touches go further than a complicated cocktail menu. Once it's set, your only job is to enjoy it.
Be a guest at your own party. This is the whole point. With nothing to shake and nothing to wash, you get to do the thing hosts never do — actually be there.
Real cocktails, zero effort, a host who's actually having fun. That's the dream. Chill, crack, pour, and join your own party.
Pour yourself a party. You've earned it.
